Edited: A PE/Gqeberha ward councillor was shot dead by one of two armed men, who allegedly stormed a meeting, held those present at gunpoint, demanded all cellphones, then fled the scene.
The incident occurred in the councillor’s Zwide office yesterday evening, just before 7 pm, while a meeting of about 10 people was underway. Confirming the councillor’s death, the SAPS says one of the unknown suspects fired upon the 45-year-old man, inflicting multiple gunshot wounds, before fleeing the scene.
The deceased sustained several gunshot wounds and was declared dead at the scene. Police have launched a manhunt for the two suspects.
