Edited: Three Humansdorp suspects were among 227 others arrested in a crime, intelligence-led operation involving the Sarah Baartman District Municpality(SBDM) Intervention Team and the South African National Defence Force (SANDF) on 13 June.

Drugs confiscated and removed from the streets of KwaNomzamo in in the Eastern Cape town of Humansdorp include mandrax, tik, cocaine, and dagga, with a combined estimated street value of approximately R30 000.
Intelligence-led operations involving the Sarah Baartman District Intervention Team and the South African National Defence Force (SANDF) led to the arrest of 26 suspects. Three of these individuals were taken into custody during the execution of search warrants in Humansdorp on 13 June 2026.
The SAPS says during 104 operations in the SBDM area between 8-14 June the SAPS and the SANDF arrested suspects for various crimes, including murder, immigration offences, and drug dealing. In successful tracing operations 148 suspects were arrested for various crimes.Crime
In tactically focused combat operations 53 arrests were made. And during compliance inspections fines totalling R27 000 were issued across the district. The suspects are due to appear before various magistrate’s courts soon.
In addition to physical arrests, social crime prevention operations focused on addressing the underlying mindsets that allow crime to flourish. During a community engagement at Andrew Moyakhe High School in Makhanda on 10 June, the Junior SBDM Commissioner, Sanelisiwe Mbete, addressed learners on the dangers of drug and alcohol abuse, and gender-based violence (GBV).
Acting SBDM Commissioner, Brigadier Abdoerahgmaan Humphries, praised the leadership team and the detective and unit commanders of station, Vispol of the SBDM , for executing successful, high-impact operations. He noted the targeted operations directly resulted in a measurable drop in crime.
