Tomorrow afternoon members of the St Francis community get the opportunity to say their own big ‘Thank You!” to all Kouga municipal and district firefighters who were involved in the massive 9-day fires that started late January this year.
A celebratory function will be held at the St Francis Bay Fire Station in St Francis Drive at 4.30 pm, tomorrow 4 March.
The Rebels Rus Conservancy most kindly raised approximately R11 500 specifically for the firefighters as a big thank you to them for coming to their aid to save their homes from the flames.
The firefighters have also deservedly received two awards at official ceremonies – one from Rotary Algoa in Port Elizabeth and also an award certificate was presented to each fire-fighting team member present at the opening of Kouga Council 2016 on Friday last week.
For tomorrow’s celebratory function St Francis Links will be preparing meals for about 60 firefighters. Some of the food being prepared comes from the kind donations received during the fires. The latest additional donation from the grateful folks at Rebels Rus will certainly add to a bigger spread and a larger celebration for those who deserve it most.
A big thank you has been expressed to all donors for their assistance to ensure a worthy celebration for these brave and tough firemen and women.
