One Day Leader is a reality series that looks at youth leadership and the role they play in the development of our country. It has been said that young people are a lost generation; a generation that cares less about the country and future and are more focused on image, pop culture and material consumption.
One Day Leader challenges this perception by inviting young people from around the country to put their leadership skills and abilities to the test; garner the nation to go the journey with them and be a future leader. Only six will make it to the final show. For 13 weeks they will debate and battle out tasks and implementation challenges based on various issues facing South Africa.
The young people will motivate the public, put forward a vision for the nation and offer practical solutions. A panel of judges will interrogate their visions and viewers will vote for their chosen leader.
The call to entry closes on 4th January 2013. With last year’s entries reaching 4000, it is expected that this season entries will double. Applicants needto be aged between 18-25.
In a press release the SABC says: “In an era of public labour and service delivery protests, with unstable markets and economic downturns, our nation is challenged even more to produce tomorrow’s leaders who will stand up and be counted. To safeguard the nation, we need visionary leaders who will take the country to new heights of an economic and democratic dispensation. Do you have what it takes to be the best among the rest?
