The three occupants of a Mazda car who died in the horrific car crash on the N2 in Thornhill yesterday, 20 February, are suspected to be all from Jeffreys Bay.
In the Clio car there were two foreigners. They also died in the crash.
Gerda Swart from the SAPS Corporate Communication Uitenhage, Eastern Cape, said in the Clio there was a 48-year-old man from France and a 62-year-old man from Austria, plus a woman from Johannesburg, in her 40s, who was admitted to hospital.
In the Mazda there were two men and one woman. All died on impact. One 70-year-old man was identified and is from Jeffreys Bay. “The othersstill need to be identified and it is suspected they are also from Jeffreys Bay, Lt Swart said.
“It is going to take time to release the names seeing that police have to work through the embassies. She also said the next of kin need to to be informed before names and more details can be released.
The accident happened just before 11 am. Traffic on the N2 towards PE was closed while emergency personnel were busy on the scene..
