Two teenagers are missing at Herold’s Bay near George in the Western Cape.
A police dive unit, re the NSRI and other rescue and municipal lifeguards are continuing an ongoing search operation for two 14 year-old boys, one from George and one from Kimberley, who were swept off rocks while fishing in the early hours of this morning, Tuesday, 22nd December, at Voelklip. No sign of the pair has been found.
The two teenagers, plus a 29 year-old man were angling on rocks at the time. The man, a brother to one of the boys, managed to get to shore and raised the alarm. NSRI Wilderness was activated at 5.53 am then launched its sea rescue craft and dispatched rescue swimmers to the scene. The EMS/AMS Skymed rescue helicopter, WC Government Health EMS, George Fire and Rescue Services, SAP and Municipal lifeguards searched extensively..
Police have opened an investigation and families of the missing teenagers are being assisted.
