The SAP Police confiscated 144 sheep valued at R187 200 on the route from Somerset East to Despatch.
The suspect will appear in the Uitenhage Magistrate’s Court today, 23 November 2015.
The arrest came during combined roadblocks with the SAPS Uitenhage and the local traffic traffic department on the R334, between Motherwell and Uitenhage on 19 November, from 10 am until 1pm.
A total of 26 traffic fines amounting to R8850 were issued. A 40-year-old male driver was arrested on charges ranging from possession of stock not marked in accordance with the stock theft act (Act 57 of 1959) and section 8, documents incomplete (Stock theft act, Act 57 of 1959).
Members from the Vehicle Identification Section of the Police also confiscated a truck for further investigation as the engine number was incomplete.
A 44-year-old suspect was arrested for possession of 5g dagga worth R30. Uitenhage Station Commander, Brigadier Leonie Bentley applauded the team for its good work and said the SAPS in Uitenhage will continue with its fight against crime and to act against individuals who do not abide by the laws.
