Children chased by bee swarm, one stung

A group of five children were chased by bees at Blowhole, Hermanus yesterday, 31 October.

One of them was stung and rushed to hospital.

Deon Langenhoven, NSRI Hermanus station commander, said at 1 pm NSRI Hermanus volunteer duty crew were activated following a request for assistance from police who suspected that one of the group of 7 year-olds had fallen or jumped into the sea at Blowhole, after the group had been chased by the swarm.

Police were on the scene. Two of the children were found safe, two others had run home but the fifth was missing. It was then discovered that a member of the public had rushed the one child to hospital.

The child was not in any danger and was in the care of hospital staff.
