NSRI evacuates ill fisherman off St Francis

A 56 year-old fisherman from Port Elizabeth was evacuated from a boat offshore of St Francis Bay yesterday after falling unconscious on board.

NSRI St Francis Bay launched its sea rescue boat Spirit Of St Francis II at  2 pm yesterday, 15 October, following a request for assistance from the fishing boat LeMarsh who fell unconscious from unknown causes.

On arrival at the boat, one nautical mile from the Port of St Francis the ill man, who had regained consciousness, was transferred onto the NSRI boat and brought safely ashore. He was then taken to hospital by ambulance in a stable condition.
