Today the second suspect and husband of the murdered school teacher, Jayde Panayiotou, Christopher Panayiotou, 28. appeared in the Port Elizabeth Magistrate’s Court on a charge of murder. The case has been remanded to 19 June 2015 and he will remain in custody until then, a statement from the SAP in King Williamstown said this morning.. A third suspect, a 30 year old male was arrested yesterday in New Brighton Port Elizabeth and he will appear in the Port Elizabeth Magistrate’s court tomorrow, 5 May 2015.
“This brings the total number of suspects arrested so far in the case, to three. “The first suspect arrested, Thando Mayoli appeared in court last week Thursday and his case has been remanded to the 7th of May 2015. The investigation team is working around the clock and more arrests are not excluded.”
The release also said the SAP is satisfied with the good and swift progress the team of investigators are making in the Jayde Panayiotou murder case. “The co-operation of media reporters are requested with regard to questions posed to the SAPS relating to this case,” the release continued.
“The SAP spokesperson will not confirm or deny any speculations with regard to the motive for the murder, investigative methods used or detail in relation to the involvement of the suspects in the execution of the crime. “Questions of such nature will be ignored as such information is part of an on-going police investigation and will be presented to court during the hearing,” the release added..
