Yesterday NSRI St Francis Bay duty crew launched the sea rescue craft Spirit of St Francis II to evacuate an ill chokka fisherman suffering from a suspected stroke.
The NSRI was activated at 7. 30 in the evening of 15 February to go to the chokka fishing boat Santa Maria that reported having a 42 year old crew man onboard suffering from a stroke
The boat was 3 nautical miles from the Port of St Francis and the NSRI volunteer duty crew travelled there in rough sea conditions. The patient was transferred onto the craft and brought into port from where he was transferred to hospital by ambulance,
