The J-Bay Open is on standby again this morning

The J-Bay Open, stop No. 6 of 11 on the 2014 Samsung Galaxy ASP World Championship Tour, is on standby again this morning, 17 July.

Small waves and the prospect of classic conditions at Supertubes on the weekend prompted organisers to call a third consecutive lay day.

Surfline, official forecasters for the J-Bay Open, are calling for building surf on Friday and a solid swell peaking through the weekend. Event organisers will reconvene at 7 am. local time (GMT +2) on  18 July to assess conditions.

Australians Joel Parkinson, Matt Wilkinson and Owen Wright, along with Alejo Muniz (BRA) have already qualified for the Quarterfinals.

When competition resumes the first heat of Round 5 will feature Josh Kerr (AUS) against Adriano de Souza (BRA) with the winner advancing to the Quarterfinals.

Heat 2: Kolohe Andino (USA) vs. Taj Burrow (AUS)
Heat 3: Gabriel Medina (BRA) vs. C.J. Hobgood (USA)
