Samuel L Jackson’s secret new mansion at St Francis Links

St Francis Bay is set to become the playground of friends of Samuel L Jackson now that this mega film star is said to have bought a luxurious mansion on the St Francis Links Golf Estate in a ‘hush-hush’ deal.

St Francis Chronicle was tipped off that late last month Jackson paid a visit wrapped in secrecy to the St Francis Links house, which is owned by a friend of his from Cape Town, during time off from making a movie in South Africa.

“After spending just one night in the house and after playing a round of golf on the magnificent Links course, the mega star was bowled over by the home, the estate and St Francis Bay  – so he offered a premium price for the house,” says St Francis Links CEO, Jeff Clause, who declined to reveal how much one of the world’s most highly paid stars actually will pay for it.  It is understood that attorneys for the current home owner and one of the world’s most famous stars will be handling the sale and conveyancing.

Clause muses that the super star will likely use the five-bedroom home with magnificent views of the ocean and course as a holiday home. He has decided to call it ‘poisson d’avril’.  “He likes the reclusive lifestyle on this five-star estate that has excellent security.

“He will no doubt tell all his fellow celebrity friends about this idyllic place and they too could soon be winging their way here. This is one of the best things that could happen to St Francis – it will likely have a snowball effect that will be good for us all,” Clause says.

The star’s visit to St Francis was so under wraps and few details are available since Jackson, one of Hollywood’s top celebrities, was continually surrounded by body guards and few could venture near him, a golfer at the Links, Jan Grappies, told St Francis Chronicle.

Jackson has starred in blockbuster movies, such as Jungle Fever, Pulp Fiction, Shaft and the Negoiator. He was in South Africa last month to star in a film –  a live action remake of the 1998 Japanese anime classic ‘Kite’ in Johannesburg. He admits that one of his major hobbies and loves is golfing  – and whenever he can he will jump at the chance to leave the set and head for the greens.  He even has clause in his film contract that he needs time off for golf!

An avid golfer with a handicap of six, Jackson seriously played in the Telkom PGA Championship Pro-Am last month, having been invited by Sunshine Tour executive director Selwyn Nathan.  Then he played golf in Cape Town before his world wind trip to St Francis. Wherever he played golf – from Johannesburg to Cape Town, to the Links, Jackson is reported to have charmed everyone  – caddies, players, scorers and rules officials. “The people here in South Africa are great,” he remarked.  “It looks like they enjoy seeing me here. I guess I’m a lot more recognisable than I thought,” he laughed

South African film producer and CEO of Videovision Entertaiment, Anant Singh will co-produce the Kite film with Los Angeles producer Brain Cox. The project, previously run by the late David Ellis, has now been taken over by Ralph Ziman.
