Touring the Karoo the College kids way
An educational tour with a difference is what Grades 6 and 7 pupils from St Francis College, Grade 6 experienced recently. Their tour took in the towns of Graaff-Reinet, Ganora Guest Farm and Nieu Bethesda.
At Graaff-Reinet their tour included a guided walking tour, visiting Reinet House, The Drostdy, an Art Museum and the Groote Kerk, the Camdebo Nature Reserve and The Valley of Desolation.
At Ganora they went on a long valley walk, plus they learned about the medicinal value of plants, about Bushman and Khoi Rock, including various fossils and artefacts.
On the last day they visited Nieu Bethesda Art getting acquainted with the area from the back of a donkey cart. They participated in a wire workshop, saw the Owl House, Fossil Centre and a cheese processing factory.
