Teenager missing at East London beach

A search is continuing for a 17 year-old  East London man who reportedly went missing while swimming at Eastern Beach on Sunday, 14 October 2012.
NSRI East London volunteer NSRI duty crew responded to reports a of drowning at Eastern Beach, but despite an extensive search no sign of the  teenager has been found.
Geoff McGregor, NSRI East London station commander, says   the  duty crew launched the sea rescue craft and responded, plus East London Fire and Rescue Services, the EC Government Health EMS rescue helicopter and the SAP responded.
“On arrival on-scene a search continued for the local young man who went missing in the surf while swimming. It is suspected he was caught in a rip current that caused him to get into difficulty, before he disappeared..
“An ongoing search, conducted by Police, Police Divers and a Police K-9 search and rescue squad, has, by Tuesday, 16 October, still revealed no sign of the missing teenager. Police teams continue to search.”
Police have opened an inquest docket.
