SABC crew tour flood areas today

Following the recent disaster in Santareme, municipal authorities requested Nigel Aitken of the St Francis Bay Residents Association to take the camera team of SABC on a tour of the affected areas as well as viewing the large ‘dam’ which is causing a certain amount of concern.

This news clip will appear on SABC 2 tomorrow morning on the ‘Morning Live’ programme.

Municipal authorities have started to drain the smaller ‘dam’ in preparation to releasing water in a controlled manner from the large ‘dam’.

Insurance assessors have not completed their assessment of houses around the damage sewerage pipe and as previously stated repair work cannot be conducted until this is completed.

The pothole team is continuing to repair potholes in the village.

The SFBRA also said it has been brought to this organisations’s attention that a number of statements made on media websites, i.e. Facebook etc, “are not totally factual”.  “We appeal to people not to publish anything that cannot be totally substantiated.  It does not assist the SFB Residents Associations in its endeavours of trying to resolve the problems that need to be addressed with council,” the SFBRA said.
