The young man who disappeared in the sea at Eerste Rivier has been identified as Andrey Dreyer, 19, of Pretoria and a student at a Cape Town College.
The NSRI, Police and emergency services have extended sincerest sympathies to the family of Dreyer who is still missing.
An extensive continuing search by NSRI Oyster Bay and NSRI St Francis Bay volunteers and Police revealed no sign of the missing teenager who is presumed to have drowned after being caught in a rip-current while swimming with his brother and friends on Thursday afternoon, 6 July.
Sea conditions and unfavorable terrain are hampering the ongoing search and while a Police Dive Unit is due to join the search, at this stage only shore patrols can be conducted and Police have taken over the command of the ongoing search operation.
His brother and friends from a Cape Town University were holidaying at their families holiday house in Eerste River at the time. Efforts to provide the family comfort are continuing.
The family have respectfully requested not to be contacted by the media and wish privacy at this time.
