Damien scores at restart of Billabong Pro today

Damien Hobgood beat fellow American contestant, Taylor Knox, this morning in Heat 7 of  Round 2 of the Billabong Pro at Supertubes at Jeffreys Bay.

After waiting for the optimal tide this morning, event organisers at the Billabong Pro Jeffreys Bay  called competition back on with the remaining six heats of Round 2 at 10:15 am.

Damien achieved 15 pts as opposed to Taylor’s 6 pts. (More results to follow later today…)

This morning’s clean, consistent three-to-four foot (1.5 metre) waves have been well worth the wait. “Conditions have significantly improved this morning and we’ll commence the remaining six heats of Round 2 at 10:30am, Rich Porta, ASP International Head Judge, says. “We’ll put the first six heats of Round 3 on standby as well and will monitor the swell throughout the day.”

Surfline, official forecasters for the Billabong Pro Jeffreys Bay, are calling for a solid SSW swell to begin filling in today and build through the weekend.

Up first this morning was Damien Hobgood (US), 32, against compatriot Taylor Knox (US), 40, in Heat 7 of Round 2.
