Eastern Cape Premier Lubabalo Oscar Mabuyane and members of the Provincial Executive Council (EXCO), will meet the Press at Koeberg Nuclear Power Station on Thursday this week.

The delegation will be hosted by Eskom Nuclear Operating Unit. An announcement today, 13 October, said the visit will provide the Premier, EXCO members and the broader Eastern Cape delegation with an opportunity to gain first-hand insight into the operation of a nuclear power station.
“The programme will cover key aspects of nuclear power generation, including safety and regulatory oversight, environmental monitoring, radioactive waste management, skills development requirements, and progress related to South Africa’s nuclear new build programme.
“The visit underscores the Eastern Cape Government’s commitment to informed decision-making as it explores opportunities associated with nuclear energy development and its potential contribution to economic growth, job creation and long-term energy security.”
