Six fishermen missing off Cape Point, found safe

-Edited-

The NSRI says in an extensive search and rescue operation involving multiple resources, reaching in excess of 80 nautical miles South East of Cape Point, a DFFE Fisheries Patrol vessel, Ellen Khuzwayo, located and recovered six missing fishermen in deep sea off Cape Point.

All are in good health and uninjured. No news yet on how they went missing or on the status of their fishing boat Berta Fishing Experience that was also reported missing yesterday. The rescued fishermen are expected to arrive in Simonstown at around 10 am this morning along with an NSRI Simonstown rescue craft that is escorting them on the leg towards Simonstown.

The NSRI says the support and efforts of the maritime community as well as the extensive search carried out by DFFE Fisheries Patrol vessels Ellen Khuzwayo and Ruth First who extensively searched a plotted search grid taking sea drift, wind speeds and direction into account, by MRCC SAR Coordinator, is commended in the successful rescue operation.
