Woman stabbed in Aston Bay house robbery

A 67 year-old Aston Bay woman was stabbed on her hand when she confronted three armed burglars in her Aston Bay house.

The suspects allegedly made off with jewellery, a revolver, laptop and cellphones, after the woman’s husband fired shots through the bedroom door. The SAPS Jeffreys Bay have launched a massive manhunt for three armed suspects.

The SAPS says the alarm apparently went off when the intruders entered through an open window of the Dolphin Street house and the woman went to investigate.  She screamed on seeing the suspects.

A scuffle ensued between one of the suspects and the victim and she was stabbed in her hand.   Her son came to assist her and the pair was allegedly ordered to go to the bedroom where the suspects searched the safe.

It is further alleged the suspects then left the family in the bedroom and continued to search the rest of the house.  One of the suspects returned with the revolver and the complainant’s husband, who had a firearm hidden in the bedroom, fired two shots through the bedroom door.

The suspects immediately fled on foot from the scene with some of the stolen items. Jeffreys Bay SAPS was notified and police recovered some of the stolen property in the yard.  Detectives are following up on all possible leads.

The police appeal to second-hand dealers to be alert of persons wanting to sell jewellery or electronic equipment and to notify SAPS immediately.  Anyone who might be able to assist with any information about the robbery, may contact SAPS Jeffreys Bay on 042 200 6800 or the Crime Stop toll-free number 08600 10111.
