A man allegedly shot and killed a Public Works employee, Christian Crouse (56), and then committed suicide in Humansdorp yesterday.
The Humansdorp police are investigating a case of murder and are holding an inquest.
The incident took place at the Department of Public Works’ premises in Station Street at about 7:30 am. It is alleged the deceased, armed with a firearm stormed the department’s building. He then allegedly went to the office of Crouse and shot him several times. A woman sitting with Crouse at the time ran for her life.
Crouse died at the scene. The armed man then committed suicide.
