Rival taxi gangs are clashing in public in Jeffreys Bay
Two incidents, one a week ago and one yesterday, 4 August, saw rival taxi drivers in angry confrontation.
In the one incident a knife was used and in the other a firearm was pointed and damage was done to vehicles.
The incidents occurred near the traffic circle on the road to Aston Bay and near Tokyo Sexwale and Ocean View.
The Jeffreys Bay Detectives are investigating cases of assault common, malicious damage to property and pointing of a firearm in relation to the incident yesterday.
A suspect in his 30s was arrested on charges of assault and malicious damage to property and will appear in the Humansdorp Magistrates court today. The investigation continues.
The situation is currently under control after a meeting held yesterday between the Taxi association and the Jeffreys Bay police station management. A follow up meeting will be held next week.
