Daphne Kettledas made history in the Eastern Cape when she became Kouga’s first woman mayor.
The Mayoral Induction ceremony was held on 5 June 2015.
In her her inaugural speech , which she kept short and to the point, Kettledas said she was honoured to lead, to have an open door and to listen to all the people and benefit from their experience and aspirations.
She also repeated what she said when she first was elected to the mayoral position. “The
quality of our leadership will not be measured by good speeches but through collective action.
“Let us bridge the political divide and unite in our common resolve to serve our people with the commitment they deserve. By putting people first we will move Kouga
forward.”
