Mandela still in Pretoria hopsital – Presidency

Former President Nelson Mandela’s condition remains critical but stable at the Pretoria hospital where he is receiving treatment for a recurring lung infection.

This is according to a statement put out by the SA Presidency today, 31 August, after the Presidency said it  noted incorrect (international) media reports (from SkyNews and the BBC) that the former statesman had been discharged from hospital.

“Madiba is still in hospital in Pretoria, and remains in a critical but stable condition. At times his condition becomes unstable, but he responds to medical interventions,” said the presidential statement said.

Madiba was admitted to the Medi-Clinic in Pretoria on 8 June. He spent his 95th birthday there last month.
