NSRI urges boaters, paddlers and bathers around the South African coastline and in particular anglers fishing along the shoreline to be cautious at this time of the year as winter storms create rough sea conditions.
“We ask them to be aware of the Spring Tide, the effects of which have already begun with the approaching full moon, and which will peak tomorrow, Sunday 23 June and Monday 24 June. The effects of the Spring Tide will continue throughout the coming week.
“Spring Tide brings a higher than normal high tide, a lower than normal low tide, stronger than normal rip-currents. In winter sea conditions where storms prevail in deep-sea and along the coastline, the effects of Spring Tide are normally most severe.”
