An urgent call goes to residents of Humansdorp to use water sparingly today.
Cable thieves stole about 3km of electrical cabling during early morning hours, leaving the town’s water pump station without power.
The municipality expects to have the power up and running again by 4 pm this afternoon. However, there is a risk that the reservoir will run dry before then, leaving the town without water.
The areas that have been left without electricity are Boskloof and KwaNomzamo in Humansdorp.
