Gamtoos-JBay road re-opens

The R102 from the Gamtoos Bridge (Mondplaas) to Jeffreys Bay has been re-opened .

Firefighters are still at the scene but report that the fire is now under control.

This section of the road was temporarily closed earlier this evening due to a massive veld fire raging between the N2 and R102 towards the sea. The fire is now under control but fire-fighters are still at the scene

 The N2 was also closed earlier today but was later also re-opened for traffic again.

 

Fire-fighters from Jeffreys Bay, Humansdorp, Hankey and St Francis were fighting the blaze. The Cacadu District Municipality also sent vehicles and fighters to the scene.
