Man dies when Uitenhage house burns down

A 43 year-old Uitenhage man died when  house burned down at the end of 2012.

According to Corporate Communications Uitenhage and Humansdorp cluster, on 28 december 2012 a house in Canon Street, Uitenhage was set alight. 

At the time of the fire a woman in the house and a baby that she looks after were in the house and they managed to escape.  Neighbours thought there were still people inside the house and  ran in to rescue them. 

According to information one of the neighbours could not came out again. When the Fire department arrived on the scene they were informed  there was still someone trapped inside.  One of the officials went in and rescued the man.  He was taken to Uitenhage Provincial Hospital where he died. 

 The cause of the fire is still unknown at this stage.
