R19 000 raised for ‘Girls Love Golf’

A Girls’ Love Golf Charity golf day at St Francis Links
today raised R19 000 for a girls’ development programme that
teaches young girls how to play golf.

And another highlight of the day was when Helen Bridges
scored a hole-in-one on the 17th!

Overall winners were Allison Bosch and Margot Mcgregor with
52 points. They pipped Hendrik and Ina Kral to the post also with 52.

Margot McGregor and Alison Bosch , overall winners today with 52 pts.

In 3rd place were Phillip and Andre Smith with 51; in 4th
were Ingvild and Erik Stiansen also with 51; and 5th place went to Piet van Wyk and Piet Koch with 49 pts.

The Girls Love Golf development programme run by Ria
Bestbier is to coach the girls to obtain a handicap to
compete at all levels. The programme also aims to promote
golf as a game that will be with them for the rest of their
lives.

Around R9500 was donated collectively by golfers today towards the programme. CEO of St Francs Links, Jeff Clause then announced, to big applause, that amount had been equally matched by a donation from St Francis Links.

Other winners today were Janine van der Merwe who achieved the longest drive out of the ladies, while P Smith had the longest drive among the men. nearest the Pins winners were: 4th Erik Stiansen; 7th Fouche Swart; 14th Noelene de Ridder; 17th Phyllis Mchugh.

There were many lovely prizes and exciting lucky draw gifts.
