* Sand River Bridge. This morning Craig McLachlan, of the Provincial Roads and PWD, told the SFB Residetns’ Association (SFBRA) that the contractor who built the second causeway is on standby and that work will commence on rebuilding the causeway as soon as the Sand River flow has susbsided. He maintains this route will be far quicker than getting SANDF Sappers to use Bailey Bridges as a temporary fix.
* Lake in Santareme sand dunes: The large ‘lake’ in the dunes to the west of St Francis Drive is being closely monitored. Since last Thursday, 18 October, the level has risen by approximately 900 mm. This despite the fact that the syphoning, using one pipe, has been running continuously since Thursday. We are endeavouring to get a second pipe running today in order to drop the level back to that of mid last week.
* Pot holes. Money has been allocated to address the very bad sections along St Francis Drive. which require pipes under the road and then to have the road service completely restored. Normal pothole repair will resume when the weather permits.

Yes, the NSRI is ferrying people across . It leaves ever 1/2 to 3/4 hour from the Kromme River River Bridge and drops you off at the Cove on the canals.

They are trying to fix the bridge this evening. if they succeed the bridge could be open by 9 pm tonight – if not before. Otherwise tomorrow sometime. Was there just now and the gravel road (one way traffic only is almost complete. However, there are no barriers and no lights in the vicinity.
They are hoping to have the bridge fixed this evening, if not by tomorrow. So Sunday you should be fine. However, it is a gravel road and one lane only at this stage.
