The 15th Calamari Classic Golf event in St Francis started off yesterday (21 September 2012) with great weather, high spirits and superb organisation, culminating in a packed clubhouse last night that saw  golfer, Jacques Colanani ,win the day’s event with his 41 points.

Jacques Colanani receives his prize of air tickets for winning the day’s golf event at the Calamari Classic Golf at St Francis Bay Golf Club yesterday. With him was Mr Opperman, operations manager for Barloworld Equipment, the sponsor of the day’s event.

The course was alive and busy with jovial golfers who had a great day, judging by the extremely high spirits before prize giving. The sponsors of the day was Barloworld Equipment that in July this year bought out Caterpillar.

Operations Manager of Barloworld, Mr Opperman, thanked his team members who gave up their long weekend to assist at this golf event. He said following Barloworld’s acquisition of CAT, it now had a full range of equipment to rent or buy. He handed over two tickets to Colanani and prizes to the team winners of the day Andre Pretorius, Donovan Coenraad George Chrisjans and John Wilson.

The organisers of this event were praised at prize giving from having worked tirelessly over the last two months. Particular thanks went to Janine and her organising committee, including Mandy and Lisa, plus Pikkie and grounds’ staff.

The condition of the course was praised by golfers and the club said it was proud to have produced such a fine course for this event even though there had been problems during the year. Also thanked were the bar and Heather & Graham’s catering staff, plus Caroline for working out all the prize winners and prizes..

Busy bar staff last night Lilian, Beau, Marius and Dezi, sporting branded T-shirts donated by the main sponsor of the evening.

Then golfers and visitors had  a hearty supper dished up by Heather and her team, before partying the night away and dancing to disco music.

Great to see packed venues again..Scene at the St Francis Bay Golf Club last night at the start of the Calamari Classi Golf.
