Eastern Cape Premier Noxolo Kiviet will lead the Executive Council and people of the province in mourning the tragic death of 42 miners in Lonmin Mine in the North West Province last week.
The Premier will address a Memorial Service to be held in Mthatha as part of a nationwide period of mourning declared by President Jacob Zuma. The Executive Council, representatives of political organisations, traditional leaders, business, labour, faith-based organisations and civil society structures will join families of 19 Eastern Cape miners who lost their lives in the tragic incident that left the nation and the province shocked.
The memorial service is scheduled as follows:
