The following photos taken by Bev Mortimer this evening show an extremely strong Sand River flowing down to the Kromme River at 6 pm, plus the build up of water at the bridge base beneath the road across, plus the status of water flowing towards and out of the pipes beneath the bridge.
The Sand River Bridge is still open and traffic police will monitor it all night. The bridge will be closed as a cautionary measure if the water level and volumes from the river threaten the stability of the bridge at any stage.
