The SAP suspect that a six-year-old girl from Humansdorp. whose body was found near her home on Saturday this past weekend, had been raped.
Her body had bruise marks round the neck and some of the child’s clothes were missing, a statement from Lt Col Priscilla Naidu of Corporate Communication, South African Police, said.
The child, Anelisiwe Sous, lived with her parents on a farm outside Humansdorp. The child’s mother and the community searched for the child on the Friday night after the mother noticed she was missing at supper time.
Police joined the search on Saturday morning.
Anelisiwe’s body was found a few metres from her house. A post mortem will be undertaken to establish the cause of death.
Three teenagers, who were seen on the farm on Friday, are being questioned by police.
