Beached whale near Oyster Bay

Article on Kouga Chronicle: Copied here by Bev Mortimer: According to eye witnesses a large sperm whale came ashore alive on Thursday, 26 March, but died a few hours later on the western coastline of Oyster Bay.
The rotting carcass has attracted increased shark activity in the area. So for safety and health reasons, and owing to the decay of the carcass, people are urged to stay well clear of the whale. Also, people are advised to be cautious about swimming or being on the water in the area.
Marine biologists will be conducting research on the carcass over the coming days.
Further info will be released later .
