Gqeberha, 29 September, edited: The police have launched a manhunt for an armed suspect who injured a policeman in Gqeberha last night, 28 September.
The SAPS says at about 11 pm Algoa Park SAPS were conducting routine patrols in Jack Road, Missionvale in PE, when an unknown man between some houses opened fire on a police vehicle and injured a policeman in the vehicle, and then fled. The wounded cop was rushed to hospital with multiple injuries.
Police appeal to the community members for assistance in tracing the unknown suspect. Anyone with any info who can assist the investigating team is urged to contact the investigating officer, Detective Warrant Officer, Errol Kleinhans, on 083 243 4567.
Acting Provincial Commissioner, Major General Thandiswa Kupiso, condemned this brazen act of violence. “We have activated maximum resources and expertise to assist with the investigation. An attack on the police is an attack on the state and we will not rest until the perpetrator is apprehended”, he said.
