23 August, Gqeberha Edited: A 64 year-old man handed himself over to SAPS today after an alleged murder in Kabega Park .
It is alleged the suspect voluntarily presented himself at the SAPS Kabega Park offices today having confessed to having shot an 87 year-old female resident.
The SAPS Police immediately responded to the scene at the Sherwood Retirement Village in Kabega Park where the body of the elderly woman was discovered in her bedroom at around 10 am. She had sustained multiple gunshot wounds to the head.
Preliminary investigations suggest that the shooting occurred Friday, 22 August 2025. A hunting rifle, believed to be the weapon used in the incident was confiscated by police for forensic analysis.
The suspect was detained and is expected to appear before the Gqeberha Magistrate’s Court in due course on a charge of murder.
The motive for the attack is unknown at this stage and forms a critical part of the ongoing investigation being conducted by SAPS Kabega Park.
