-Edited- Two alleged drug dealers were arrested for being in possession of drugs with a street value of around R800k in Graaff Reinet late last month.
The Graaff Reinet Operational Command Centre (OCC) members executed a search warrant at a house in Fred Hufkie Street in on 23 August and found 990 mandrax tablets, 500 grams of Tik, 8 rolls of cannabis /dagga and cash they they confiscated.
The couple, Edwill Klerk, 42, and de Klerk, 44, appeared in court and released on bail The case is remanded to 23 October 2023.
Sarah Baartman District Commissioner, Maj Gen Zolani Xawuka, welcomed the arrests and the SAPS officers for their efforts. ‘Drug related issues is a major concern and contributor to certain types of crimes.
“Substance abuse can lead to criminality as users/addicts may resort to illegal means to acquire drugs to fund their addiction. We urge communities to continue providing information to the police either voluntarily or anonymously,” he said.
