000 years ago., as early as 120, Humansdorp area caves hold evidence of diet of early humans, New discoveries made at the Klasies River Caves (above) in the Humansdorp area of Kouga in South Africa’s eastern Cape, provide the first archaeological evidence that anatomically modern humans were roasting and eating plant starches, such as those from tubers and rhizomes, where charred food remains from hearths were found
