A lovely social evening was held by St Francis Tourism (24 October) at the beach bar Shenanigans at Legends in St Francis Bay.
Lovely snacks and cocktails, provided by Shenaigans, greeted about 40 guests, who sat around and socialised before Jo Brown took up the mike.
Jo, one of the new Tourism committee members, says people may be cynical about the Tourism committee starting a new drive forward – because this has been said so often in the past. “But give us a chance before you write us off,” she said.
The committee was introduced and Jo recounted that one of the main reasons why everyone loves St Francis is that in times of crises like the washing away of the bridge, everyone pulls together. She then went on to thank all those who helped the community in various ways , particularly the NSRI, fire officer Keith Donaldson and Kouga Municipality whose officials were still trying to help people in their flooded homes at 8.30 in the evening.
Warren Manser, who heads up the local Tourism Office, then proceeded to speak about the importance of Tourism and the reasons why it is important to become a member of Tourism.
