SA TV crew films penguins in Cape St Francis

SABC TV2 crew were filming a Penguins Eastern Cape today.

This rehabilitation centre alongside the lighthouse is a temporary home to hurt or ill penguins and other marine birds and even wild animals at times.

The film crew from the SATV2 programme KykNet, spent most of the day filming not only the cute African penguins but recording the sterling work that Trudi Malan and her team of ‘penguin nurses’ do at the centre.

The centre, aka Penguin Hotel , cares for the penguins until they are well and strong enough to be set free in the Indian Ocean. The injured birds get plenty of fish, mainly sardines and pilchards and when able swim around in a swimming pool.

This afternoon some of them appeared to be actually posing a and were extremely inquisitive at the filming proceedings. They were delighted when a big plate of fish was brought to them.
