Calling all golfing members of St Francis Links!
It’s time to gather for two of the greatest team events in golf – The Ryder Cup and the Links Cup!
The Ryder Cup is three days of matchplay golf, pitting the best professional golfers in the US against those representing Great Britain, Ireland and Europe
Then there’s the Links Cup, played by members in conjunction with the Ryder Cup (Medinah CC, Illinois) representing their country of heritage (or choice)!
The Links Cup will be held at St Francis Links from 28-30 September 2012.
This year there will be a match play competition that will feature foursomes, betterball and singles. Every member is welcome to play – the more the better!
International team Captain, Peter McHugh is already changing birth certificates to strengthen his team that is returning as the defending champions.
Jeff Clause will be leading the South African side and expects all true South Africans and South Africans, by choice, to rally back to take the gold medals (provided again by member and internationally renowned medal maker, Colin Higgins).
In true Cup spirit the proceedings will start with the national anthems of all of the participating countries and the presentation of the teams. The flag-raising and national anthems ceremony will be on Friday evening at 6 pm at the Links.
