In spite of the rain, the Heritage Centre was packed to capacity, causing at least one person to remark: “I have never seen the Heritage Centre so full!”

This enabled the moms to take a bit of a breather and to chat with one another over cups of coffee. Outside on the terrace overlooking the Indian Ocean and Granny’s Pool there were lighted fires and sausages cooking on the fire. The boerie and prego rolls cooked by Daryl from SuperSpar St Francis Bay were going like hotcakes while upstairs the sweet pancakes were being snapped up.
In the foyer was a most beautiful display of all the wild flowers currently in bloom in the St Francis area. This stand was set by Caryl and Bart Logie and other members of the Kromme Trust.
Sadly the picnics planned by many had to be cancelled with grey skies , a slight drizzle and cold conditions outside, but PR for the centre, Geanne Darke, was bouyant. “We are very pleased with the wonderful turnout,” she said.
She revealed activities today were held to raise funds for the centre, for the Tiny Tots programmes, for the Kromme Trust educational programme and for the Friends of the Kromme Trust. “This is the annual fundraiser for the Heritage Centre.”
