Local St Francis Bay surfer, Dane Staples, and Davey Brand defeated Mikey February this morning at Seals Point- in what is one of the first big upsets of the Billabong Pro Junior surfing event.

According to Billabong, gale force offshore winds continued to blow all morning at Seals at Cape St Francis and the difficult conditions upset a few surfers in  the early rounds.

Mikey, or M-Feb as he is known, failed to secure the required score and was knocked out of the competition.
Josh Smit was lucky in his heat, arriving with seconds to spare before his heat started and still managed to to get second place and advance through to the next round, along with J-Bay’s Dylan Lightfoot.

The event is set to run all day and today and culminate in the predicted good conditions tomorrow afternoon.
