Sea Vista Tennis players strove really hard to win the various events in the 2011 Tennis Championships in St Francis Bay.

Their efforts paid off and they walked off with several prizes. The competition was played over three weeks and the finals produced some exciting tennis with close matches. This is the second year that the boys have competed for the Talhado Children’s Haven trophy.
Marvin Adams won the singles in two sets 7/5 and 6/3. Nico Meyer, for the plate event which he eventually won 6/7, 7/6 and 7/5, had a tougher three-set battle with two tie breakers needed before clinching victory.
The players, coached by Claire Millson (a previous provincial player in Zimbabwe and South Africa) of the St Francis Bay Tennis Club, recently spent an afternoon playing against Jeffreys Bay Tennis Club boys. The latter’s coach was impressed with the St Francis’ standard of playing.
According to Millson the Sea Vista youngsters have persevered with their tennis and are approaching tournament standard. “Hopefully they will be participating in tournaments in Port Elizabeth next year,” she said.
